Tarren Bragdon is the chief executive officer at the Foundation for Government Accountability, which he founded in 2011 to help people experience the power of work by advancing reforms that move individuals from welfare to work, reduce government barriers to better jobs, and lower the cost of private health coverage.
Prior to joining FGA, Tarren served as the chief executive officer at the Maine Heritage Policy Center. He also served in the Maine House of Representatives, and remains the youngest person elected to the Maine Legislature. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maine and a Master of Science of Business from Husson University.
Tarren first experienced the value of work while cleaning out cow stalls. He quickly learned that work provides purpose and a chance to realize our full potential. His passion for empowering individuals to experience those benefits drives both his efforts at FGA, as well as his volunteer work at the Immokalee Foundation and Better Together. A nationally recognized health care expert, Tarren has testified before Congress, various state legislative committees, numerous national conferences, and the American Swiss Foundation in Switzerland. His work has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, the Boston Globe, The New York Times, and his research has been published with The Heritage Foundation and The Manhattan Institute. Tarren has also appeared on NPR, Fox News, and numerous talk radio programs.
Tarren is an entrepreneur at heart, and greatly values faith, family, and good policy. He enjoys traveling and lives with his family in Ave Maria, Florida.
