Senator Rick Scott introduced the Freedom to Fly Act, which would prohibit the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) from requiring Americans to show proof of vaccination or produce a vaccine passport for domestic flights and protect the privacy of personal health information.

Senator Rick Scott said, “Americans are working hard to recover from the devastation of COVID-19 and travel is critical to getting our economy fully re-opened. While I continue to encourage everyone who wants one to get the vaccine, the federal government has no business requiring travelers to turn over their personal medical information to catch a flight. Sen. Rick Scott: Biden’s Budget is a Disaster for Florida Families & Pro-Life Protections

Ahead of next week’s hearing in the U.S. Senate Committee on the Budget on President Biden’s massively reckless $6 TRILLION budget proposal, Senator Rick Scott issued the following statement highlighting the failures of his proposal, its attack on pro-life protections and its consequences on Florida families. The president’s proposed budget, which projects dismal economic growth showing it will do nothing to boost the economy, would take the United States to its highest sustained levels of federal spending since World War II and is on top of the $7.1 trillion in new spending he has proposed in his first five months in office.

Senator Rick Scott said, “President Biden is all in for big government, big debt and higher taxes. Biden campaigned on moderate policies and no tax hikes on working families, but apparently has decided he’d rather be liked by AOC and Bernie Sanders than protect American families. Biden’s budget includes 30 tax increases costing families and businesses nearly $3 TRILLION over the next decade. That’s on top of the already rising cost of living Floridians are dealing with thanks to Biden’s inflation crisis. Even worse, his own budget shows that his plans would do almost nothing to spur economic growth.

“Biden’s budget also strips pro-life protections that for decades have prohibited taxpayer dollars from funding abortions. By leaving the Hyde Amendment out of his proposal, Biden hopes to force Florida taxpayers to fund the widespread destruction of life. It’s a disgusting abandonment of federal policy, which has had bipartisan support for 45 years. Senators Rick Scott and Marco Rubio joined Representatives Greg Steube, Carlos Gimenez, Byron Donalds and Vern Buchanan in a letter to U.S. Department of Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo urging the Department to approve Florida’s request for disaster assistance for fisheries that were harmed by severe red tide events that occurred between 2015 and 2019. Sen. Rick Scott Doubles Down on Call for Congressional Investigation into the Origins of COVID-19

Senator Rick Scott released the following statement doubling down on his calls for a hearing to find answers on how this virus originated. As more information is revealed daily about the media’s role in downplaying the possibility that COVID-19 came from a lab in Wuhan, families in Florida and across America deserve answers and accountability.

Senator Rick Scott said, “It’s time for the misinformation, unanswered questions and Communist China-driven propaganda to stop. We know this pandemic came from Communist China. We know it’s now killed 595,000 Americans and 3.7 million people worldwide. Washington Democrats and their friends in the media said it was crazy that we’d have a vaccine in record time. Wrong. They said it was racist to call out the Communist Chinese government’s obvious role and responsibility for the international spread and cover-up of this deadly virus. Wrong again. Without evidence to the contrary, they quickly dismissed the possibility that COVID-19 may have leaked from a Wuhan lab. It’s like they caught a man at the scene of the crime and refused to label him a suspect. They were willing to ignore and even conceal crucially important information about the origin and development of the murderous pandemic – all to advance their political agendas. Now, we see the consequences of the blind spots they purposely created. Dr. Fauci and media executives should be called to testify at a bipartisan hearing so the American people can understand why they chose to not take these claims seriously last year. These are serious questions we all need answers to.

Sen. Rick Scott: Iranian Warships Not Welcome in Western Hemisphere Waters

Following reports that two Iranian warships may be headed toward Venezuela, Senator Rick Scott issued the below statement urging President Biden to make clear that any act by Iran to place naval vessels in Western Hemisphere waters will be met with a strong and immediate response by the United States.

Senator Rick Scott said, “For years, I have been warning that Nicolas Maduro’s brutal regime has worked to turn Venezuela into prime real estate for Communist China, Iran and our adversaries to gain a critical foothold in the Western Hemisphere. Now, the U.S. national security community believes that the Iranians, undoubtedly emboldened by the Biden Administration’s weakness and desperate desire to reenter the failed Iran nuclear deal, are making a direct and serious threat to America’s national security.

Sen. Rick Scott Donates Senate Salary to Florida Organizations

Senator Rick Scott announced he will donate his first quarter Senate salary to two organizations committed to supporting Florida’s children and seniors. Liberty Youth Ranch in Bonita Springs is a residential program for vulnerable children, and Advance Senior Center in Kissimmee provides programs and resources for seniors to promote health, exercise and entertainment.

Senator Scott will donate his second quarter Senate salary to Guadalupe Center in Immokalee to support their efforts to break the cycle of poverty through education for the children of Immokalee, and the Florida Chapter of the ALS Association to help fight ALS on all fronts.
